Meet the panel and join the NHS discussion on ‘Critical Care’ cleaning. Much is happening across the healthcare landscape and this discussion group will enable a real heads up on the latest thinking with the opportunity to ask questions. The National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness (NSoHC21) will feature alongside the fractured workforce situation, transformational thinking concepts and the clean hospitals project. Hot off the press will be the Apprenticeship Workforce Development Programme (AWD).

Delia Cannings

Patron of the Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals (ahcp) and Chair of the British Cleaning Council

Delia Cannings is Chair of the British Cleaning Council (BCC) as well as Patron of the Association of Healthcare Cleaning Professionals (ahcp), an examiner for the Cleaning Science Degree programmes with Northampton University and founder and owner of Environmental Excellence Training and Development Ltd. Delia was awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize for education and training within the industry.

Nigel Grinsted

Nigel Grinstead is Chief Executive of an innovative primary care organisation, facilitator and leading tranformation practitioner. He has chaired and facilitated many healthcare hygiene, infection control and cleaning science events and has led and delivered, as well as let, soft services tenders. Nigel has over 30 years’ experience in the sector and also supports digital transformation and turnaround for NHJS and private sector organisations via a vibrant consultancy organisation, Open Junction. Nigel was a founding CEO of Pier Health, Weston-super-Mare and assisted in developing Europe’s largest super partnership in Birmingham. Nigel is a non-executive director of a number of leading healthcare providers.

Michael Rollins

Environment Hygiene and Infection Prevention

Michael is an independent consultant specialising in validation and implementation of healthcare hygiene technology, environmental infection prevention and integration within patient safety, quality improvement and sustainability initiatives. Published studies include enhanced patient environment cleaning and impact on healthcare associated infection, antimicrobial compounds and surface modification and methods of enhanced decontamination methods and practitioner training.

He is a member of the Hospital Infection Society, Infection Prevention Society, Central Sterilising Club, and is a Patron of the National Association of Healthcare Cleaning professionals (AHCP) UK.

Collette Sweeney

Collette has worked in the healthcare cleaning industry for 46 years supporting multiple NHS clients. She supported the launch of the first NHS national standards of Healthcare Cleanliness (2001), and all subsequent revisions culminating in 2021. She has a profound understanding of the complexities of delivering cleaning in the healthcare environment. Collette is the Head of Healthcare Cleaning at ISS Facility Services, providing guidance and expertise to the Operational Performance Team and Contract Management teams.

Caroline Fennessy

Caroline Fennessy is a well organised and highly motivated specialist with over 15 years' experience in soft FM for both large and small international companies, specialising in the environment and cleaning hygiene. A commercial and operationally experienced individual within cleaning management specialisms, with a proven track record in successfully leading teams through change with particular expertise across the healthcare sector where she was part of the NSoHC 21 development team.

Heather Cracknell

Heather Cracknell is an experienced manager with vast experience within the healthcare cleaning sector. She has a history of leading teams through transformation, is skilled in negotiation and operational management and plays a significant role as part of the ongoing NSoHC 21 review and development panel. Heather has recently completed the Chartered Practitioners Award demonstrating her commitment to education and training and continuous personal development, and her inclusive leadership style enables people power with succession planning a real factor in her management and delivery style

Chris James

Education and Skills Consultant

Chris James has been involved with bio-medical science and cleaning education and development for over 40 years. He is a biologist, one-time clinical scientist, teacher and environmentalist with a passion for cleaning science. His driving ambition is the pursuit of education and training for the cleaning industry at all levels. He has worked for colleges of FE, universities, national training organisations, sector skills councils, and a number of awarding organisations including CIWM.
